I honestly never thought I would own one, but after a family member got one, and I got a chance to see how cool hondas can actually be(Even if you don't lower them and put a big wing on.), I had to have one. So I am now the proud owner of a 2014 accord coupe with a 2.4l I4 engine. I get out of the car to open the garage and notice a ticking sound while it was idling at about 1200ish revs. Honda's are know for their loud fuel injectors, and this is a common problem that apparently was supposed to be fixed or at least quieter with the newer models. Everything seems fine, and it does seem like it is the injectors. I'm taking it in for a briefing on how to properly use all of the electronics on the inside(yes they actually sit with you and teach you how to use the entertainment system, LDW, cameras, econ mode which it is hardly ever in except in heavy traffic, etc) so I'll just ask for a quick check just to be sure. (I can be very paranoid.) So I just want to know who else has a Honda that has this same problem, and how common is it? It could be considered a problem but it really isn't; most people like me just aren't used to their engine bay making a ticking noise, even if it is just the injectors.

I have a 2013 Accord Sport, and I can assure you that its common among these cars. I have one, my neighbor has one and my cousin has one. They all sound the same.
If it worries you that much, wait till your next service and get it checked out!

My prelude makes a ticking noise sometimes. I made a video and asked the forums a while back, and i got this reply in the comments:
"Your engine is fine. That clicking noise is the Evap purge solenoid pulsing. It's does that to purge fuel vapor from the charcoal canister into the throttle. It will stop once you hit the gas and come back when you are back to idle. All Honda and Acura do that. Also, they do that to test the Evap system when it's cold. You don't hear that on other cars because their solenoid pulse quieter"

Not to worried though since it seems to be quite common. My cousin reported the same thing with his 2013 accord.

Yeah mine is the same exact sound except a lot quieter. So i'm guessing they weren't lying when they said it would be quieter. by the way completely unrelated but hers something cool.

ooooo a clear valve cover! I want one of them. That reminds me of the people who've run their honda motors with the VC off, and they get oil everywhere.. They always make it a funny story haha.
And yeah, mines pretty loud. Loud enough for me to be concerned about about. But i still have to do a valve lash adjustment on mine, but i dont think thats the source of any additional noise.
Enjoy your new accord! You get a manual?

Unfortunately, I didn't fully pay for it, so no. Still a fun car though for a dd. And it looks so good too! i'm getting a job over summer and will get a crappy car to hoon around in, and fix up.

Ironically, I also have a cousin with a 2013 Accord sport. Every time he brings his car by, I can't get over how "coarse" the engine sounds with that ticking. My 97 Civic sounds smoother than that. But I suppose it is normal.

A hooning car doesnt have to be crappy! Get something you will love, and good luck on that search.

Soo.. maybe an acura integera for around $2000 dollars or something. I love the way they look and parts can be really cheap.

I hear ya. Im looking for one like that too. My 2cents though. I like you, DD a fwd honda. The prelude i have is about the most fun you can have with fwd, no doubt. Its an awesome dd in all respects and ill never sell it. An integra would be no different, and they can be faster. They are awesome cars. But you could become a little regretful later on in ownership. So i suggest look into something rwd. Because i have this rwd bug at the moment... And im looking nearly everyday for a cheap fun, rwd anything. My budget is half yours at the moment, and youd have no trouble finding something at 2K.

Yeah I honestly wish my accord was rwd, or they at least gave you the option. But a cheap rwd car will be fine too.
